Introduction
Flipping or merchanting is the act of buying an item from the grand exchange and then turning around to sell that same item at a profit. This can be used to make profit quickly. They do have a tax that you have to watch out for when picking the right items to flip. 1 | Resources / RuneLite Plugin
2 | Finding an item to flip As stated above, you will want to use the resources from the first step to find a good item to flip. Once you start trying items, you will find ones that work well for you. You will want to make note of these items and flip them as much as possible. For this step, we will decide if the Amulet of Torture is a good item to flip. https://sidev.me/RuneLite_bx12o5ZcVu.png
Target Buy Price: 15,060,045gp Target Sell Price: 15,264,029gp Potential Profit: 203,984gp/ea (before GE tax) GE Buy Limit: 8 every 4 hours After analyzing this item, the Amulet of Torture gives a large profit margin of 200k gp/ea. We must also take into account the GE buy limit against our cash stack. The buy limit is 8, so we are close to where we need to be. 3 | Buying the Item(s) This step is pretty self-explanatory. You purchase the items at the prices listed on the Flipping Utilities listed above, or slightly above the prices listed like I do If profit margin allows. https://sidev.me/RuneLite_0FRdptvotn.png *Note: I was going to do this tutorial with 100M cash stack and flip berserker rings as well since I normally have good luck with those. They took forever to buy so I only did the Tortures. 4 | Selling the Item(s) Like above this step is pretty self-explanatory. You sell the items at the prices listed on the Flipping Utilities listed above, or slightly below the listed price if profit margin allows. https://sidev.me/RuneLite_iSaJgnixCI.png 5 | Calculating Profit Now that we have bought all of our items and sold them all, it is time to assess our profit. We can do this a number of ways. We can view our history at grand exchange and calculate our profit manually. https://sidev.me/7IwvVwj605.png As you can see, flipping these 5 Amulet of Tortures for 75M net us 369.7k gp profit in just 16 minutes. https://sidev.me/RuneLite_UI1IQTnfnR.png 6 | Cheaper Items to Flip I realize not everyone has the kind of money to flip Tortures. Weapons, runes, staves, bows, food, etc. are generally good items to flip. I like to stick more towards weapons myself. Rune/Dragon/Granite items usually have a decent profit margin and buy/sell rather quickly.

Thank you for the detailed tutorial on OSRS flipping!
I'd like to include that if you would like to watch quality videos on the subject, Check out FlippingOldschool on YouTube. He posts updates on market trends and shows fist hand experience in the flipping world. Very in-depth and entertaining videos. Personally, I have not played since Fresh Start World, but flipping was always a good money maker when I was needed a break from real content. |
