i'd mess around in after effects and blender, generate the planet and move to photoshop or whatever you're using after. Would allow for way more versatile options in design. Not bad though. Colors contrast heavily.

Thanks. I'm not very good with 3D programs and have never used blender. Just Maya and Max. I have given the colour a go and made it a better match think. Considering it's another Earth I turned the orange to a blue.

Better. Adjust the saturation some, lighten the shadows and if you want an idea of colors to go with try some rich complementary colors (hot pink/mint green, purple-pink-magenta/lime-verde, orange/blue, red/green, etc..)

These are just my suggestions for some fixes. I don't entirely have the time currently to do a detailed constructive breakdown.
