If you are using Nvidia

Set 'Power management mode' in NVidia control panel to 'Prefer Maximum Performance'.
- Enable the High Performance power plan in Windows.
- Ensure VSync is off in-game and in your NVidia control panel.
- Use a program such as MSi Afterburner to max out your power and thermal limits.

Just sounds like an unstable overclock to me.

Dial everything back and work forward slowly until you find something stable.

I agree and if you haven't overclocked that's odd
