I was hoping someone could help me or point me in the right direction. I recently tried to upgrade the 250gb internal hard drive in my modded RGH console to a 2TB one. I formatted the 2TB drive on the 360 and proceeded to clone the drive using a 2-bay hard drive docking station. Then I plugged the new hard drive into the 360 and instead of Aurora coming up, the 1st screen I am greeted with is one that tells me that an Xbox update is required. I click no and then it goes to the MS dashboard with no games showing up. I go to look at the contents of the drive on the 360 and it tells me there is data on the drive, but I see nothing under the contents. I then tried reformatting it again on the 360 and used FATXplorer64 to mount both drives to my PC and simply copied all the contents from the old drive to the new. Pretty much the same result. I then plugged the old one back in and it was fine. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Is it an incompatible drive issue (which would be weird since the 360 does see it) or did I simply not do it right? If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

No matter the size HDD you upgrade to there will always be reserved space for the system partition. For example when you format a 20gb HDD only 13gbs will be available.

I think I may not have been clear in my earlier post. The 250gb hard drive I have is already set up to work with my RGH console and is working fine. It has all the software already on it. I just wanted to upgrade it to a 2tb drive if I can by simply copying all the software / files over (i.e. Aurora, FSD, XEX Menu) from the old one to the new one, but that didn't work and neither did cloning the whole drive.

I did not originally set up the 250gb drive and I guess I can start from scratch and figure it out, but was hoping to avoid that.

You would have to get a extension to plug in the 2TB and while you have the 250GB up it should work. From their. You would press y or x and it should say usb, usb0, external and internal or HDD anything like that then just copy all files 1by1

Yes I know but he needs to format the hard drive in the 2tb so the Xbox will reconize the drive then he can transfer files easier I guess I should of explained it more

Well thank you to all. I thought it would be harder to just do it from scratch but I watched Modded Warfare's guide and turns out it was super simple to follow. I am good to go now and ready to take advantage of all the extra space.

Thanks again.
