Hi!

I'm building a PC and I'm currently at the planning stage.

I want it to be super powerful.. enough so that I won't ever have to worry about it slowing down for anything.

The main things I would be using it for are CAD (Revit), rendering plugins for CAD and some occasional (but graphics intensive) gaming (mainly Forza Horizon 4).

I've been using a 2019 16" MacBook Pro (i9-9880H+32GB RAM+Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB). It's been good but it's very expensive and I wanted to get a high-end PC so I don't have to worry about VMs with windows or Bootcamp.

I've put together a list of the things I want to include but I'd like some advice on a few things here and there I haven't decided on yet.

CPU: i9-10900 (BX8070110900)

Motherboard (here's a choice or potentially a new suggestion (I want it to be able to support at least 64GB ram for future upgrades, and wifi)):
1. MSI MPG Z490 GAMING EDGE WIFI Intel Z490 S1200
2. MSI B550 TOMAHAWK AMD B550
3. Asus ROG STRIX Z490-F GAMING Intel Z490

RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3200 MHz (2x 16GB) (CMW32GX4M2E3200C16)

Graphics (here's a choice or potentially a new suggestion - this is one I'm really not sure about (I want at the very least 8GB)):
1. RTX 2070
2. RTX 2070 Super
3. RTX 1080ti
I'm just really not sure what one to get with the other specs I'm getting.

Hard Drive: WD Black 1TB M.2

Power Supply: Corsair 850Watt 80+Plus Gold (Do I need more than 850W?)

Here's where I have no idea what to do:

Cooler: Water cooling or air cooling? How many fans? Do I get a water block for the graphics card? Will these specs do okay with just air cooling?

Case: What's the best one (with a glass side) for these specs? I want the build to be clean and look sleek.

Lighting: Does strip lighting just look tacky? Am I better off just getting RGB fans and making sure the components (such as RAM, SSD, Cooler, etc) are RGB to light it up?

Cabling: Will I need extra cables? or will all the cables come with the parts I've listed?

I think that's all. If there's anything I've left out please let me know or add anything extra you think I need to consider.

Thanks in advance for your time!

So, what is your budget and currency then?
What are you building the system for exactly- what is it going to be used for?
Do you need any monitor(s) included? If not, what monitor(s) exactly will you be using with this system?
Do you need a keyboard, mouse, or other peripherals?
Do you need an operating system?
Will you overclock?
Anything else we should know?

I wouldn't. Kind of pointless going Intel and then buying a locked SKU that you can't overclock anyway. Intel's only real advantage over Ryzen at this point is single core performance, and if that's what you're after, buy an unlocked SKU like an i7-10700K or i9-10900K, so you can OC it to 5GHz+. The locked i9-10900 is only ever going to hit close to 5GHz on 2 or 3 cores utilised, and only IF you're cooling is up to par.
Either way, I'd be looking at Ryzen instead, and I'd really just wait a few days(October 8th) for AMD to announce next generation Ryzen CPU's.

No, you don't need more than 850W. You don't even need anywhere near 850W.
650W is plenty for a single GPU system, even with an i9-10900K.

Whatever you prefer. If you want to liquid cool, then that's your choice. Whether your specs will "do okay" with air cooling depends entirely on which components you end up buying- same goes for "how many fans".

danielkempster1 wrote Case: What's the best one (with a glass side) for these specs? I want the build to be clean and look sleek.

There isn't a "best". Different cases do better in different scenarios, but regardless case is a fairly personal choice so the best bet is to have a short list of good quality cases, and then decide which one fits best for your based on price and aesthetics.
Phanteks P400A, and P500A. Fractal Meshify C, and S2. Cooler Master TD500, H500M, NR600. Lian-Li PC-O11 Dynamic. Those are my typical go to cases for decent airflow, at a variety of different price points. A few of these will need outfitted with aftermarket fans, some will be fine with the included case fans. Again, what you should do for fan set-up though will depend entirely on which case you decide on in the end, and what components you're putting inside the case.

danielkempster1 wrote Lighting: Does strip lighting just look tacky? Am I better off just getting RGB fans

Entirely up to you. Totally personal choice. I can say that RGB fans are going to be a bigger headache than just throwing in an LED strip though.

No. Don't buy any of these. RTX 3070 should be available end of this month for $500 and is meant to offer similar to 2080Ti performance. No brainer to wait for an RTX 3070 over a 2070($400) or 2070 Super($500).
Also, AMD are announcing Navi 2 GPU's on October 28th.

Cooling: Water or air? For a "clean look", liquid cooled is much less bulky, and better
(for the most part) if you're overclocking. Air cooled is big and bulky, I prefer it,
but I look at the screen, not my Mobo.

LED Strips can illuminate a case very tastefully if you're careful with the placement.
I put them out of sight on the top and sides for indirect lighting. RGB fans will also
give off that indirect lighting, and circles of light.... Whatever floats your boat.

Cases: You just have to find what works for you. I went with a be quiet! case.
I don't like fan noise much, and the 801 keeps noise down, and only shows light
out of the side glass. It is not an optimal case for cooling though. My
CPU runs 50-70*C depending on the load. Acceptable to me.

Cabling: The power supply should have every cable you need to power your rig.
SATA cables for HDDs and SSDs MIGHT come with the tower... Might not.

A 1TB M.2 SSD will fill up fast, especially if you run any newer games.
Consider a 2.5in SSD for a second drive. Saving projects and less used
software on it will keep the M.2 clear for the important stuff!

Good luck with the build!

No LED fans, just strips:
