Hi im new here and to pc building so please dont make fun of me.
I had a PC a friend upgraded for me but i had to switch cases with him cause the new MB ASUS M5A97 wouldn't fit but the case is pretty old and crappy looking. Then the graphics card burnt up, so my son bought me a AMD RADEON RX 5700
XT not yet installed, and then my Power supply died

So i bought a 1000 G5 evga 80 plus gold, the graphics card manufacturer recommended 700 watt power supply. Also i read somewhere about going 50% or so more than whats required? So for not much more i went bigger. And since i have to install the new graphics card and battery i decided to buy a new case.
My son sent me a link for the corsair
Obsidian 1000d but for alot less money i decided to buy the lian li 011 xl case. Its HUGE
Next step is fans. so i ended up buying 9 corsair rgb QL120 then the commander pro.
I could put one 120mm in the back
Top 360 or 280
Side 360
Bottom 360 or 280
I understand its all about airflow but i dont know what to add where, just cause i can, dont mean i should. I was thinking
I currently have 2 8gb sticks of ram.
I think ddr3, i might upgrade those, pretty sure i can go 32gb , would probably go rgb on those too. I know its dorky.
I have a monitor
I used my pc for running graphics programs mainly
so my problem is i have planned actually installed (not connected) one fan in the back as exhaust , 3 on top as exhaust and 3 on the bottom to draw air in, i dont see the point in side placement, but now im rethinking that,
not 100% sure i should install 3 on the bottom because my big hunky graphics card is kind of in that pathway. So GPU is upside down with the GPU fans just maybe 5 inches from the bottom intake fans,

That is WAAAYYY Overkill. A good quality 500W PSU would be plenty for an RX 5700XT system.

Obsidian 1000D would have absolutely been a horrific choice. It's a halo product and totally useless for the vast majority of users.
Yes, the PC-O11 "XL" is a fairly large case. It is good though, and not horrendously over-priced like the 1000D.
You could have bought the non XL variant of the PC-O11, which is what I'd have recommended but it's probably just easier to keep the XL now, and it's not a bad case anyway.

Overkill again. Why buy 9 fans? Especially if you don't even know how many you need?
Start with 3 on the side as intake, and one in the rear as exhaust. Then if you add more, use bottom for intake and top for exhaust.

I'd recommend not touching your RAM. There is absolutely no point investing more money in DDR3 RAM, especially an RGB kit since those aren't as easy to find, and probably priced horribly.

What monitor?

Crazydaisy2564 wrote I used my pc for running graphics programs mainly

What does this mean exactly? What "graphics programs"?
