My xbox buddy just got some extra spending money and wanted to finally get a pc. Naturally I told him he should build his own. But he said he had a local guy who his friends all got pc's from and that he has great prices. So I told him to link me to his website and the pc he was debating getting, and to my surprise trying to build a identical system to the one in the link on pcpartpicker was around $1050 US dollers not including windows. On the website its $840 US dollers and the guy gave him windows 10 pro for free. I'm genuinely dumbfounded by this and am now debating getting my next build from this company as well. Its the first pre-built I've seen thats seemingly better value then building myself. Here's the link to the build. He ended up getting the 1tb m.2 upgrade for a additional $80 US dollers.

link removed

And here is the exact same build on pc partpicker I couldn't find the case on there but a quick search for it led me to the price which was around $60 US dollers so I put a fractal case on the pcpartpicker list that was around the same price as a placeholder.

Uh, no. That's not a $160 motherboard, or a $190 kit of RAM, or a $120 PSU. I can also guarantee you that he does not pay $100+ for Win10 licenses.

So here's your $840 pre-built;
PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($166.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($72.99 @ Best Buy)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: ADATA SU635 480 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($49.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB TUF GAMING OC Video Card ($229.99 @ Best Buy)
Case: CiT F3 MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($27.47 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA 600 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($59.99 @ Best Buy)
Total: $672.41

+$30 for Win10 license, +$60-70 for 1TB NVMe SSD.

Motherboard and PSU pricing/availability is awful right now. The B450M Pro4 is a better motherboard than in the list above, but it's usually available for $60-70. I wouldn't be spending $60 on an 80+ EVGA PSU, since that would usually get you something like a Corsair CX450M or Seasonic S12III 500W.

The CiT F3 is probably lower quality than the case in the pre-built, but not by much I bet. The case used in that pre-built is worth, at max $40, including the price of the cheap RGB fans.

So, it's actually roughly $150 more expensive than building yourself, rather than cheaper.
