So my computer only has 500 GB and obviously that isn't enough. I've thought about before putting a new hard drive in, to just buy an external hard drive. I've been checking out Seagate Backup Slim and Seagate Expansion Hard Drive. I'm not sure on the difference, if there even is one, but I mainly just need a spot to store videos that I way I don't have to worry about my recorder stopping in the middle due to space. Help??

PC Part Picker List - Hard Drives

Most external HDDs are essentially larger flash drives that are garbage. They never have a cache, their life spans are usually 1-2 years before they either slow to a crawl or outright fail. It would be wise to keep your life simple with them. Buy 1TB HDDs and make backups of your files as you go. Better solution would be to buy a 2-6TB HDD and a 500GB - 1TB SSD (with a cache) for speed and storage. Average cost for the two ranges from 100.00 USD to 400.00 USD. Depends on what you look at. Seagate, Samsung, Western Digital are the "industry best."
