is it just me stuck in the past but do newer cases just dont come with an option for 5.25 bays for optical drives?

plenty do. They're just slowly phasing it out still. Unless you have an absolute need for one there are external solutions that work just as good.

its just crazy to me, I put my blurays onto my computer so I still need mine, but thats the only thing I use it for, everything else including my games are nondisc

Most case manufacturers don't waste time/money on 5.25" bays when they're making the tooling for new cases these days. People haven't really been using 5.25" bays for like a decade now. So yeah, a lot of newer cases aren't designed for use with 5.25" drives. That said, there are still plenty of good quality older cases with 5.25" bays. There are also some exceptions, the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M uses the same tooling as a P400A, but the Pro M comes with a 5.25" bay. The Cooler Master NR600 has a variant with a 5.25" bay.

You can just use an external blu-ray drive, rather than one that uses a 5.25" bay.
