Hi, I'm 17 and was kicked out of college a few months ago for carrying cannabis. I did decent in my exams(GCSEs) and passed most bar a few. I did pretty well in my Media Studies course getting a B. I want something to do with Media Studies but where I live there is literally nothing I can find or anything to do with it. My mum is pressuring me into getting a job, but if I do something I don't like I literally cannot pursue it as my interest and overall drive is not there. I want something that I either won't mind doing or actually maybe enjoy it. So basically I need advice on where do I look for jobs that will interest me or should I just get a job no matter if I like it or not? I don't want my life to be so shit and boring because of my job and would rather be on less money doing something I like that more money and something I hate. Also will the cannabis thing hold me back? And where am I supposed to get a job, where do I find them. I really have nobody to talk to about this and only could think of here to post it, I'm not really close with my family so I don't open up to them about stuff. Nobody in my family seems to understand me.

The best advice i can give is find an apprenticeship, find something you will like to do. There are a lot of trade jobs, they make really good salary.

My friend got arrested for selling. Now he sells houses. You just have to keep trying. cannabis is becoming more legal by the day. Some people don't find it to bad.

That's quite the turnaround, it wasn't for selling weed it was just for possession but thank you for the advice.

This is what life is all about man. You are 17. Tons of time. People like ourselves have this resistance to wait and assume it has to be done now, and we want it now. I understand how you say you have nothing there where you live for what you want to do and thats ok. I come from a small town with nothing to give and offer as well. Was working as a cook at F***** dennys making $11/HR 65 hours a week. Now 8 months later, I make anywhere from $25 - $40 an hour w weekly pay. It takes time to see results. Thats one thing I have learned.

Your mom is pressuring you to find a job because you need money. Cant live without it unfortunately. I would take up your moms advice on finding yourself a job. Even if its part time. Its still some type of income. Why not do that, start saving your money up while living at home and take it day by day. The opportunity will present itself when available. If you have no income you are not only limiting yourself, but you are slowing that process as well. if you arent in College you should at least be working. And yes, even if you dont like the job. I have worked so many shit jobs I HATED. But it put a few hundred in the bank pretty damn often and it made all the difference. You wont work a shit job forever although YOU have to start somewhere. Thats just my advice. In a sense I agree with you mother lol.

Edit: You have to learn to open up to someone. Even if its online. Like you are doing now.

Good luck man!

So if you have no drive or motivation, then you're not wanting it enough. Life isn't going to change for the better if you can't be bothered to do anything about it.

The problem for young people is that literally everyone is on your shoes and now, you have 1 less shoe because you've just rekt one of the good routes into a job. This isn't to say it's the end though.

So, think what can you do differently to make yourself stand out from the what, 100 applicants that apply for a job. For me, it was volunteering. I fell flat on my face as soon as I left sixth form with everyone and their nan telling me I needed experience... for an apprenticeship. So I volunteered for a while in something that I enjoyed. My passion came across and they gave me an apprenticeship when they wasn't even advertising for one.

I don't beat around the bush because there's no point but life sucks, it really does but what you do from here will make or break your life. Just make a good choice, not the easy one.
