Hello.
I was playing bo4 on my Xbox one s and all of a sudden my whole screen went black.
I cannot reset the Xbox as the whole screen is black and can't see what I'm doing on the Xbox to go into setting to hard reset it.
Does anyone know why my screen is black and I can't doing anything?

What should I do?

Maybe an HDMI cable popped loose? Hopefully your console didn't just crap out!

Perform a cold boot on your Xbox One console by holding the power button on the front of the console for 10 seconds, and then turn it on again.

You can also reset your display settings:
If there's a disc in the Xbox One console, remove it.
Press and hold the Xbox button on the console for five seconds to turn off the console.

I held the button down for the 10 seconds.

My console shut off and I waited about 30 seconds before turning it back on.

I still have a black screen.i didn't even get the Xbox logo start up screen.

Hard reset your console again but this time after you turn it off unplug your power supply or cable and wait 30 seconds. Also unplug your HDMI cable while waiting and plug it back in.

Try powering off the console then holding the sync button, eject button and power button. keep holding all 3 buttons and the console should boot into a safe/troubleshoot mode. from there you can do a reset and this should fix the problem.

You may need to download the OSU1 update from xbox.com and put it on a usb to re-update the console once you have reset it.

If this doesn't work, the main cause of black screen of death is the HDD has gone bad and will need replacing. (if the HDD has gone bad or is unplugged you will get black screen issue)

or if its not the HDD then it will be the HDMI chip on the underside of the motherboard that has gone bad. This can be fixed but you will need to remove the chip with hot air and replace it.

Hope this helps.
