Usually I like to stick to my grungey social media designs such as headers that let me be as creative as possible with it still being pretty forgiving however I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and have a go at something that requires a more simplistic approach, therefore here is my first attempt at a mascot logo:

In hindsight I think I could've done the gas mask better but overall I'm happy with the results, criticism welcomed

I like the overall outcome, though my honest little quirks with the final are minor they could help out.

The good

  • Fluidity is really good if this is your first go at it, most people can't seem to pen the right way all the time. Kudos.
  • Scheme looks nice. Reminds me a little of how older mascot variations looked and were approached.
  • Good color palette but it could have a little less variation and focus more to blend. There is a little bit of a stark contrast in the outline to the mask. I would go similar but don't dilute.

The good but could use reworking

  • blurring on the bottom right/top left.
    • i would remove that and if you're blurring go more towards the edges that aren't directly in view.
    • Add some color into the background; the flat black looks nice as a contrast but is a bit too bland.

  • The glowing effect you went for shadows a bit too much from the eyes.
    • lower the shadow and just focus it a little more around eyes themselves.

  • The green outline is too thick. (preference) it is a little wide for what you were going for.
    • Thin the outline a little, this should result in a bit cleaner of a finished product.

  • Font decoration choice. This wasn't bad but it is a little reminiscent of pre-2014 mascot styling.
    • This one is completely artists choice, personally something a little more flowing/popping out at me and not so loosely spaced/sharp edged (i noticed you were lining the edges up to the shoulder width)

Thanks a lot man, this is the in depth criticism that helps, luckily the blurring and eye effect where only on the actual post of the logo, the logo itswelf has neither, as for your other points they help a lot, so again thanks

It has been soooo long since I have such a beautiful critique. One of the reasons I stopped posting on here.

Bravo
