I currently have an MSI B350M Gaming Pro motherboard with a Ryzen 3 1200 in.

I'm upgrading to a Ryzen 5 3600X but I know I need to update the BIOS for it to run. Can someone please tell me if I just simply update to latest bios and itll be fine?

Here's the bios support page for my mobo: msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350M...#down-bios

Someone guide me please as I really don't have money to buy another mobo.

Thank you!

The motherboard should definitely support an R5 3600x with a BIOS update.
As for the BIOS update, I'm actually not 100% sure. Usually, you won't be able to just update the oldest BIOS for the mobo to the newest. There's like 20 odd BIOS updates for that specific motherboard, so if you were on the oldest you would likely have to update it gradually. That said, I'm not 100% sure which BIOS updates you can skip and which would be necessary for your motherboard.

If it were me, I'd check what BIOS revision you're using first(obviously), and I'd do updates in order of;
2.0 > 7A39v24 > 7A39v2C > 7A39v2L
Obviously, if you're already on something like 7A39v2C, just update straight to 7A39v2L or whichever BIOS after 2C that is compatible.

Worst case, the motherboard should tell you that the BIOS revision you're trying to use is incompatible, in which case you just need to update to an earlier BIOS first.

Enjoy the 3600x.

Thanks for the reply.

As I'm not sure if it was a good idea or not but I updated straight to 7A39v2NQ(Beta version) yesterday and my PC seems to be working fine?
If I put my new cpu in and it doesn't work due to the bios, it won't do an damage will it?

Happy new year!
