How far into it are you?

It definitely takes a different turn in the later episodes, imo for the better. Not what I expected but a pleasant surprise.

I watched through episode 11 so far. I havent dropped it but Ive been watching Ao-chan Can't Study! Its alright but I have legitimately laughed at a couple scenes so there is that. I didnt want to watch it after reading the bio but it had a lot of 5 stars.

Funny thats where you stopped because thats the exact episode the major plot point begins to be fleshed out.

I'd definitely start it back up and see if you like it any better.
