My current gaming setup is way outdated, I assembled it back in 2015 and haven't upgraded it since. Now and I am looking forward to shopping for upgrades on black Friday / cyber Monday.
I plan to spend around 500-600 USD and would like some advice on what to prioritize. Here is my current build: CPU: i5-4690k, 3.5 GHz, 4 cores, LGA 1150 88W Mobo: ASUS Z97-A VGU: ASUS GeForce GTX 970 STRIX 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 Power Supply: 850w Cooler Master SSD: 120gb Corsair Neutron GTX SSD SATA-III 6.0Gb/s HDD: 2TB Seagate Monitor: LED 3D Benq Gamer 24 Widescreen Full HD XL2420T edit: I don't plan on overclocking and I might get Oculus Rift S in the near future. thank you ! |

Cant really recommend an upgrade if we don't know why you're upgrading. What is your current system not doing(or not doing well enough) that you'd like it to?
What is the model of your PSU- could be helpful? Also, what case are you using? What exactly do you use your system for? If just gaming, what kind of games? Honestly, the whole system could do with an upgrade. The GPU definitely isn't letting you stretch your legs at 144Hz, but the 4C/4T i5 is really going to start holding you back soon, again especially at 1080p144Hz. You're not really going to afford a decent CPU+GPU upgrade within your budget though IMO, so I'd prioritise a CPU or GPU upgrade, depending on what's going to benefit you most. |
