Those are the same exact thing, one is just a retail package.

And yes that is compatible with the Maximus Hero

"Retail Pack" should just mean that it comes in the normal retail packaging.. so a bit of a weird one for Walmart to advertise that fact honestly.

The other one, that does not say "Retail Pack" should also come in the retail packaging anyway.

The alternative would be an "OEM" version which would be the exact same CPU, just with minimal packaging. So there is zero difference whatsoever between the two CPU's linked, and there would be no difference with an "OEM i9-9900K" other than the packaging.


Gotta say though, if you're spending $750 on a CPU+Mobo, I'd be taking a look at an R9 3900x + Asus Strix X570 motherboard.
