Yeah... I have a nagging feeling that I'll regret not getting the TUF. Lets see what happens...

If I don't win that auction (I kinda wish I didn't bid now), I think I'll go back to choosing between 2700 and 3700. Since upgrading is just a simple swap, I might as well wait.

Someone recommended the zalman i3 - much cheaper than NR600, build quality not as good but 4 fans. Can't find any English reviews for it so will probably stay clear, but wanted your opinion in any case. I'm not a fan of the look but wondering if those 4 fans will give better cooling - which I probably don't need lol.

Sorry - another question about m2. The first drive I put into the motherboard is nvme and therefore the 'fastest' right? Does that apply to the second m2 drive for the TUF and the Pro Carbon, or will one or both of those boards run that second drive like SATA? While I do love the form factor, I'm more interested in the speeds. I've been struggling with HDDs for way too long

Nah, cheap and low quality case with cheap crap fans. I'd just stick with the NZXT H510 that you like, in whichever colour you prefer. The H510 comes with 2 fans included, which would be fine really so you don't have to buy more case fans. The NR600 also comes with 2 fans. The Pure Wings 2 are just what I'd recommend if you do buy more case fans.

You might be able to retract your bid? I don't use eBay myself though so I'm not sure. Yeah, the upgradability with AM4 is really quite incredible. I have an R7 1700x currently, going to swap it out for a 3700x at some point at least, but if those 3900x's come down in price enough quickly, they might tempt me lol.

For the Gaming Pro Carbon-
m.2_1 is the fastest m.2 slot.
m.2_2 is the secondary slot, and is only PCIe 2.0 so could throttle higher end NVMe SSD's like Samsung's 970 EVO. However, with the Intel 660p it would be fine. Even with a throttled 970 EVO, it would still be faster than a SATA SSD.

With the TUF X570, it's definitely not something you need to worry about lol because both it's m.2 slots are PCIe 4.0.

Also, so you know, a SATA SSD is already a huge increase over an HDD. The 660p is a noticeable improvement over a SATA SSD too, but the move from HDD to SATA SSD is by far the biggest change IMO. Still, with the price of the 660p it's silly not to get it over SATA anyway.

Lol the fact that you listed the Zotac makes me think its safer to go with that than the Palit. Also, due to your earlier explanation, I won't feel happy going with the 1650 instead of the 1660 Shame that I have no idea what purpose the card will be serving in my system, so I'm choosing it purely on your recommendation. No one else has complained about it either.

So in case I drop the TUF, going for the Pro Carbon purely for the second m2 won't be a bad decision because the drive should still be faster than SATA SSD right?

With Premiere Pro specifically, there are some effects and plugins you can use that will benefit from GPU acceleration, so if you decide to use any of those at some point, the GPU is going to be very useful. You can also just enable CUDA acceleration in Premiere Pro regardless of effects/plugins which could speed up rendering, but probably not by much since it doesn't sound like you'll be rendering heavily edited videos. Performance increase from GPU acceleration doesn't necessarily scale linearly which is why a higher end GPU wouldn't make sense for you. For someone who is editing and rendering 4k videos on a daily basis, then yeah definitely.
There are other programs that can utilise GPU acceleration to different degrees as well, so if you decide to use something other than Premiere Pro, the GPU may come in handy.

Harmonaz wrote Also, due to your earlier explanation, I won't feel happy going with the 1650 instead of the 1660

The 1650 Super would be fine for you to be honest, but yeah the 1660 Super has just a little more oomph I guess. They're both really good options in their respective price ranges- £150, and £200.

Honestly, I just put it in there because I think it looks a little nicer with the dual fans. The Gigabyte one you chose for 210 is also a solid option, as is the Palit for 200. Just get whichever you like the look and price of lol.

Yeah, the 660p won't be throttled by the Pro Carbon at all, so you could even put that in the 2nd m.2 slot and still be able to put a higher end PCIe3.0 NVMe SSD like the Samsung 970 EVO in the 1st m.2 slot if you wanted. Though, those are still a bit overpriced anyway IMO.

Ok enough!

Ordering the following now:

ocuk:
Team Group Vulcan TUF Gaming Alliance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz Dual Channel Kit - Blac £59.99*
Super Flower Leadex III 550W 80 PLUS Gold Modular Power Supply - Black £59.99*
Total order value £130.48

ccl:
Intel 660p 1TB M.2-2280 NVMe PCIe SSD £89.98
Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB Graphics Card £214.83
Order Total £304.81

Scan:
NZXT Black H510 Mid Tower Windowed PC Gaming Case £60.47

Though only a £20 saving, I reckon the 3600 ram is wasted on me so went with 3200. All of that is staying boxed until I get the motherboard which I haven't decided on yet. Can't retract my bid on the 3900x without contacting the seller... I think I'll wait and see if I get it for £480.

It has begun...
