1. Check the wires for damage/improperly pressed in.
2. Attempt to turn the monitor on while it's plugged into an outlet directly and into your motherboard if possible.
3. What message do you get on the monitor if any?
4. Age of the monitor?
5. Brand, and model of the monitor?
6. Has this monitored worked prior to this issue?
7. Have you checked online for firmware, or other forms of software for this monitor?
8. Have you checked your windows display settings?

Right click on Desktop > Click on "Display Settings"
Search bar type in "Device Manager" > Click on "Device Manager" > Click on "Monitors"

9. Does that monitor register in Device Manager/Display Settings?
10. Are you using an AMD or Nvidia GPU?
11. If it is not register in Device Manager it could be not getting power or improperly plugged in.
12. Change all connecting cables to the monitor to ones that you know do in fact work.
13. If the monitor is register in Device Manager and not Display settings, get into the control panel for AMD or Nvidia and see if they are registering in their software.
14. Look at GPU drivers and BIOS updates and make sure you're installed to the very latest drivers and bios.
15. Have you ever used Nvidia Surround or AMD Eyefinity? Turning this on and off again can result in monitors simply turning off or back on.
16. If the monitor registers and turns on after a quick cycle of turning on and off eyefinity or surround, then go into Display Settings and change it to desired resolution and image display.
17. Use different ports if applicable instead of current one being used.
18. Google the issue and see what comes about. You may be in need of an RMA and have a dead product.
