I just downloaded Euro Truck Simulator 2 back and when I've started playing I noticed quite a lot of lag so I changed the quality to low and it still had some lag, mainly on the pause menu whilst using the mouse. I searched the internet and was recommended to try launching it in safe mode which worked... but the quality is bad. In the past my pc could run it quite smoothly with better quality so I don't know if I have some settings wrong or if the computer is just getting old or I've missed something out.

Specs I know of are-
I7-4770K 4.00GHz Overclocked
Running Windows 10
Intel HD Graphics 4600
16GB RAM

Pc is around 5/6 years old
Gets cleaned 2/3 times a year

Any help or advice is appreciated, thanks

Your issue right there is integrated graphics. Why you have a 4770k, that's overclocked, with no dedicated GPU is questionable.

When you said that you could run it before, was that with or without a dedicated graphics card?

Tbh I've known my graphics card was poor for a while but I was just confused because I've always had it and like I said it used to run okay with it... maybe it's past it's time and I understand it's unusual to not have a decent graphics card with it having a good cpu and plenty of RAM and stuff but when it was built I had run out of money to get a good GPU lol, the plan was to save a couple hundred ££ and buy something suitable for high quality gaming but it just never happened haha.

I'm unsure where you got your PC specs from but we need to know what's actually in your PC to make a judgement on what's going on. There's a couple of ways we can do this. Software or hardware way.

Software - You can install Speccy to give us a detailed look at what's in your system. If you install this and screenshot what you've got, that would be perfect.

Hardware - If you physically take a picture of your PC insides, that would be perfecto. Even better than that would be the insides and the back of your PC where the power cables, USB, video out etc is.

Once we have that, or both would be ideal, we can see what's going on. My best guess is that you've either not got a dedicated graphics card or your rig is not using it for some reason. Once we have more information, then we can help you further.
