Hi,

Problem: HDD can't be written to but all files can be accessed and loaded.

OS: Windows7
HDD: WD 1TB

Currently attempting a "backup" which I've never done before, what could I do next? Is there any easy way to diagnose or repair?

Check your permissions. Right-click the drive in File Explorer, click Properties, go to the Security tab, click Advanced, and make sure your user account has permissions.

If you don't have "Full control" access, you can take ownership and fix it here.
