Recently started thinking what if thousands of people raided a forbidden place such as a prison or Area 51, don't think they would punish all people? Wanna hear your thoughts

"If thousands of US citizens (other nations doing so might be an act of war) walked towards ANY US government ANYTHING, including Area 51 and excluding other factors to make it realistic scenario, the base would go on lock down. Any special assets that could be safely transported away would be. That includes technology, research material, non-essential personnel, etc.

If this throng of people attempted to penetrate or actually penetrated the fences and barriers of Area 51, personnel would begin to destroying all sensitive equipment that could not be evacuated. All of it. After all, there would be blue prints and back up data for all of it somewhere else. Anything too precious to destroy and unable to evacuate, like aliens kept in suspended animation, would be sealed up tight. Think classic bank vault doors but bigger and thicker and stronger. Not even a few hundred thousand people, unless they have the tools (demolitions, termite and heavy equipment), could penetrate these vaults. That's IF any of that shit actually existed, which I think makes the question more intriguing.

Unless the people were openly hostile, I am fairly certain NONE of the soldiers would fire a single round. The US military is still American and human. Maybe some CS gas deployed, but that is surely overcome by hundreds of thousands of people fairly easily"

I used to think that but you can't get 10,000 somewhere without them knowing they would reinforce pretty quick and besides if they shoot 1 person people will back off pretty quick.

Lets say 10k people got there without them knowing all these people are totally unarmed and they all run together towards area 51.

No government or military on this planet would get away with killing 10,000 unarmed civilians of their own county who they are trying to protect.

I feel like the place would be built for this and would just lock down I'm sure its built to take air strikes so I doubt civilians would have the tools to do anything but run around the landing strip.
