Was looking into getting one but only post I found was pretty pricey .. I found some pages on Google that say they do them cheap but I'm not risking it on there.

But would just like to know what happened to them and if anyone still does them ?? Or a recovery. I only have a Xbox One though

The reason they are so pricey is because it is not impossible to do it for the Xbox one. So the accounts people sell (GatorCheats) are accounts made along time ago ahead of time to be able to sell whenever rockstar got rid of linking accounts over. So you would need to cash out for a nice GTA account nowadays, sorry.
