Hi guys,

Been awhile since I've been on this site, but I just finished college and basketball so have more time to be active.

I am moving to Chicago soon to start my professional career and am currently in the job search hunt. I have had a few offers (I am pursuing roles in sales), and the pay is decent, but really do not know much about base salaries vs commission in terms of total compensation.

If anyone has any advice on typical base salaries for sales roles for entry level positions please let me know! I know this is a broad question and every person is different, but would love some input XD

Sales in what? I'm in college and I sell clothes in retail and I make $10.25 lol. I don't make commission on anything. Like I said though I am in college still too so.

Lots of different sales jobs offer a pay rate + commission and some offer one or the other. Where are your offers from?

Well, I am open to different routes in terms of sales positions (mostly outside sales though), but most if not all full time positions are compensated by a base salary with commission rates depending on performance. These rates vary in different fields of sales, but for the most part are uncapped.

Most sales jobs are around $30,000 base with anywhere between 2-5% commission.
