Hey all. I have been collecting/saving for parts over the last couple months and I plan on buying the ret of the necessary parts within the next week. Being my first PC build and not tech savvy, I would just like advice on this potential build. The parts I still need to purchase are the CPU cooler, motherboard, memory, and storage.

[Minimum post requirement for links]

I'm not trying to break the bank with this build. I just want a modest build, nothing over the top. Any assistance is appreciated! TIA!

Build looks mostly good to me. I would opt for an NVME drive such as the Samsung 970 Evo over the SATA SSD (860 Evo) that you have currently selected.

You can see benchmarks between the two here and decide for yourself if it is worth the additional money (hint: it is)

The CM Hyper 212 Evo is a decent budget cooler but I think, realistically, considering the CPU you are buying, you should be getting a higher quality one such as the Dark Rock Pro 4, or similar. The 212 Evo is very much a budget entry cooler. If you're dropping $2k on a build, you want decent cooling too.

Consider buying a windows 10 key from online elsewhere (/r/microsoftsoftwareswap, g2a, etc.) because it's really not worth paying the full price for when you can get keys for cheaper.

The only things I could really say would be to consider an AIO for your CPU, if not at least consider a delid and using conductonaut as a means to drive your CPU temps to a real low. The 8700k is really easy to delid, it's not scary at all and the benefit is insane. Even with just your heatsink you could see reduced temps 10-20C. Speaking from experience.

I'd also recommend a higher PSU for future upgrades 850 or higher as well to let you have some more efficiency (though frankly it doesn't matter if you're not overclocking or you'll just make a complete scratch build in the future.)

Finally I'd at least consider getting some more storage. ADATA SU800 1TB SSD I recommend this so often for it's price and performance I ought to be sponsored... It's not as good as your samsung one, but it does perform close to it and is 1TB for under 100 USD.

Other then those things... all of which are totally not needed but purely for option, your pc is fine.
