Evening TTG,

I was wondering if you guys could give me a hand with building a fresh PC from a blank slate with only minor requirements, I'd appreciate any help you guys could give!

I have a budget of £800/$1000,
I have a NZXT S340 Mid Tower PC Case - White already,
I am primarily wanting a Ryzen build (can be Intel if better price for performance),
I currently have a EVGA GTX 1060 6GB which I would like to sell & upgrade.

Things I don't know whether to keep or swap out (memory space is fine for me)
- Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB 2.5 inch SSD
- Seagate BarraCuda 1TB SATA III 3.5" Hard Drive

My intention for the build is primarily gaming; new Call of Duty on release and games similar to in terms of requirements.

Thank you in advance ladies & gents!
Looking forward to your feedback.

Zen 2 CPUs will be available on July 7th. I would probably just hold off for that and grab an R5 3600 instead of the 2600x. You'll still have 6C/12T, but the 3600 will have better IPC and increased clock speed over the 2600x, so will definitely be beneficial for gaming @ 1080p144Hz. X570 motherboards will also launch on July 7th, so you could maybe grab an X570 mobo as well instead of the B450 Tomahawk. I think B550 mobo's will be later so if you don't want to fork out the cash foir an X570 board, probably just stick with the B450 Tomahawk unless we do see some B550 on launch.

You can hold on to the 6GB GTX 1060 if you want. Otherwise, I'd try to return it since 6GB 1060s are only going for like £100 on the used market currently. Regardless, if you intend on getting a newer/better GPU, Navi will be announced at E3 and NVidia have something they're announcing at E3- could be a refresh of the RTX cards with up to $100 price cut, or could be pretty much nothing but we'll know more info in less than 2 weeks.

Perfect, thank you.

Quick questions if I could?

- I have a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo CPU (it's ugly) cooler currently on my PC, worth keeping it instead of swapping out? (Sorta interested in the aesthetics of it so it'd look good to change if worth it).
- SSD worth swapping out?
- Would the 1060 work effectively in new releases?

I will wait for the releases due as I'm not in an immediate rush, I'm primarily upgrading for the future.

Appreciate the help.

If you've got an AM4 mounting kit for the 212 EVO, you'll be able to re-use it. It's unlikely you got one with the cooler so you'd have to contact AMD for the AM4 mounting kit, or buy it separately somewhere. The Dark Rock 4 is a much better cooler anyway, so I'd probably just get that, plus it will come with an AM4 mounting kit. Otherwise, the stock cooler with an R5 3600(x) should perform similarly to a 212 EVO anyway.

I'd probably just hold on to your 250GB 850 EVO since you have, as well as the HDD. No harm in adding more storage though, especially when you can get a 52GB NVMe SSD for 60 quid.

I don't know what you mean by "work effectively"? The 6GB GTX 1060 is a perfectly adequate GPU for 1080p. You will have to lower some settings to get closer to 144FPS in some AAA titles, but you'll easily be able to get 100+FPS comfortably in anything you play. Since you already have the 1060, it makes sense to just use it- unless you can return it and get the full cost back. If E3 comes around and a Navi GPU or maybe Turing GPU interests you, then you can always upgrade the GPU and sell the 1060.

Understandable.

I currently have an i5 7500 so I'm curious as to if the 2600x is worth the purchase or if I should look for something higher tier for it to be more future-proof. I'm going to wait for Zen 2 & E3 regardless to see what occurs.

I more or less want to swap out to a Ryzen build UNLESS an Intel CPU upgrade would make more sense? I'm not entirely sure, I've always been guided when upgrading and Ryzen has been said to be better in price for performance.

In other words, here's what I have currently, and I'm looking to upgrade (probably drastically) with a budget of around £800 lmao.

The link doesn't work. Think your list is private.

Intel upgrade doesn't make sense if you're buying a new motherboard. That said, your i5-7500 should still be fine.
