Here's to hoping one of the PC experts can help me.

I have a Dell laptop with Windows 8.1 installed. It restarted itself to do an update, once the update was done, the screen kept going COMPLETELY BLACK (as if it was shut off) but the computer's fans kept running and could be heard.

I've restored the laptop to its last "save" (the update itself) and it restarted, went past the Dell boot-up screen, asked me to enter the password for my laptop and once I pressed enter, it went to another black screen with the cursor able to be moved.

I've searched it up on Google and I've tried the CTRL+ALT+DELETE method but it won't load anything at all.

P.S. There was a disc in the DVD tray and I removed it, once removed the laptop was able to go past the Dell bootup. Also, this laptop has a shit battery so whenever I remove the charger, it will shut off completely and won't turn on unless the power source is connected.

Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated as all my college work and related things are on this laptop. If any other sort of information is necessary, my Discord is Bosque#6503

Thank you!

Sounds like you may have a issue with the graphics driver in the laptop itself. Have you tried to boot it into safe mode at all? How old is the laptop?

The laptop is about 5 years old now.

I managed to actually boot it up but when I closed the laptop and opened it again, it just goes to a black screen and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to go through the process of booting it up again. It's extremely frustrating.

Windows 8 ISO Download

Get that onto a USB / CD and boot into it via boot manager. From there, you can repair your Windows installation.

Here again. I managed to use a Restore file and the computer was restored back to 2 days before the update. The laptop restarted itself and tried to update but it now says: "Fatal error C000002 applying update operation 61380 of 67508" which I managed to find out that it means that there's an error within the update itself.

I have the Windows update on a USB but I can't figure out how to update the laptop through the USB and I also can't restore to the file I used before because whenever I try to do so, it just goes: "The instruction at 0x379f5c18 referenced memory at 0x000000008. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program." Once I click "OK", it just takes me back to the Advanced Options menu that appears when booting up the laptop.

Hello, all! Need some assistance ASAP.
I've downloaded the Windows 8.1 install to my USB but it keeps giving me the above message and once I actually restart the computer, it leads me back to the same thing. Any help?

When you restart with the USB unplugged does it still show that message?
