Red Dead Redemption 2 UPDATE: Big Red Dead Online news for PS4 and Xbox

ROCKSTAR GAMES has confirmed that some exciting new Red Dead Redemption 2 updates are being planned for PS4 and Xbox One, meaning fans won't have to wait until the Spring Red Dead Online expansion.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online is getting new content very soon on PS4 and Xbox One.

This week saw a new mode makes its debut, allowing gamers to try their skills at Target Races.

But this won't be the only new content coming to Red Dead Online in the coming weeks.

Rockstar Games has also confirmed what to expect next in the popular multiplayer mode.

With Red Dead 2 Online still in the beta phase, plenty more missions, activities and game modes are expected to arrive until it can be considered a complete multiplayer experience.

Right now, there is still some pretty basic stuff available to do online, with more coming soon.

This will include the new Showdown Modes Up In Smoke and Plunder, which are expected to arrive in April.

Both will be accompanied by cosmetic items and should help to provide new things to do while fans wait for the big Spring update.

The good news is that Rockstar will be launching this before the end of June, the bad news is we don't know exactly when it will arrive.

It seems likely that this isn't something being planned for April and will probably arrive sometime in May.

More 'A Land of Opportunities' Missions will be part of the big update, where fans will get to continue Jessica LeClerk's search for revenge as you explore the path of a Gunslinger or an Outlaw.

This will launch alongside new Free Roam Mission givers and mission types, with Rockstar hinting at some single player cameos.

Red Dead Online is set in the years before the single player story so expect to encounter a range of new and familiar faces, they have warned.

Rockstar is also planning to expand the dynamic events that can occur in Red Dead Online, meaning fighting off ambushes, initiating rescues and defending folks in need.

There are also rumours this week that Red Dead Redemption 2 could arrive on a new platform in the future.

Many fans are expecting to see RDR2 announced for PC sometime in 2019, something that Rockstar has yet to confirm.

However, this week also saw a new retail listing spark hopes that it could also appear on the Nintendo Switch.

A retail listing from Australia advertised Red Dead Redemption 2 being available on PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.

And while fans would love something like this to happen, we probably all know that it isn't possible right now.

Some are holding out hopes that this could be a game released on the more powerful Nintendo Switch Pro, which is rumoured for a 2019 launch.

But without a clear answer on whether the Pro will even be level with the base PS4 and Xbox One models, it's hard to see this as an option.

Not to mention that the storage required would present its own small nightmare for Nintendo and Rockstar Games.

They sure are gonna bring a lot to this game in April and many months after.
I hope to see them finally perfect it in the near future, I'm more interested in that than a switch release tbh
