so i jumped on my ps3 fat today to play some mw2 aint played on it for ages plugs turns it on few seconds later my ps3 turns straight back off please help will rep

It may need to be cleaned, hence it shutting offf. Or the solder points for the cpu are bad causing it to turn off so it doesn't cause any issues. From what I've seen, it's caused by either of the 2. Could possibly be the hard drive. But not too likely.

If you've dropped it it could be the disc tray, check if it's hot to the touch when it turns off if not then it may be bricked or need the fans cleaned. I had this problem with my PS4 & it was because of the disc tray error.

This could be due to your console overheating by from starting it up the fan could be lose or not on and it will cause it to turn on for 2.5 seconds and then shut down. this is easy to fix just open the console and make sure no wires have been cut or anything clean the fan and then put it back together. if it happens again the i would pull your cpu off and put thermal compound paste on it and it should work then
