I recently bought a keyboard to get into playing the piano (I can do a fair few songs but struggle playing with both hands) and was curious how many others have learnt to play an instrument.

If anyone that plays the piano has any useful resources for a noob like me, they would be much appreciated too!

I played the trumpet for 8 years before I realized I needed to learn the piano in order to produce music on my computer.

Two tips I have for you:

1) Music Theory can help A LOT. Learning all the chords in a major/minor scale will help you so much when you go to play a song from the radio. Eventually you will know the chord by ear, but if you cant you can look up the scale of the song. You can then play those chords in the same progression and boom, you know how to play the song!

2) If you dont really want to learn how to read sheet music, I'd focus on learn the chord progression in the left hand first as the melody is easier to pick up in your right hand.

Watching youtube videos has helped me tremendously. My brother has also been playing the piano for 20 years, so I ask him for advice on proper hand placements, etc.

Been playing an acoustic guitar for about 4 years now. I'm a lefty so whenever someone gives me a guitar I can never play as usually everyone is a righty. Being able to play an acoustic guitar or any guitar is nice because you can take it out anywhere and just start strumming any song. I've done many songs around a campfire with someone singing, or presenting a song back in the day in front of parents and such,

I can also "somewhat" play the recorder because way back in like grade 6, our class had to do a musical course so we all had to play the recorder.

I had a drum kit many years ago, if I got on one now I could probably play a few basic songs but nothing major.

Nice you got a piano? I love the piano that's my favorite instrument! I'm alright with it but I'm trying to get better at it. I hope to eventually make a YouTube channel and make beats with a piano.

Nope, can't play anything.
I had keyboard lessons at school when I was like 8 but that's it.
