Hi All,
I am looking at putting a new desktop together, My budget is upto £4/5,000 but I am wondering if I need to spend this much. My needs: Gaming (Anthem), Streaming, Encoding My limitations: I will be using my TV as the monitor. My TV: Sony KD55X8005CBU 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD TV My question is: I have been told TV's are pretty bad for being used as a monitor, but due to space limitation, realistically I have no where to place a monitor/desk. My question is this, if I'm using my TV, it would be kinda pointless to get a high end RT2080ti card and 4k gaming right? Given the TV's low refresh rate and input lag etc? I don't need any peripherals, just purely the pc components, I don't even need a case as I have a Thermaltake Core X9 laying around. I was looking at getting a Intel X9 9900K with 32gb DDR4 3000mhz ram, 11gb RTX 2080ti and 500/1tb nvm m2 with a custom watercool loop. The question is, would this be overkill given my limitation from the TV? |

TVs aren't bad for gaming unless you are playing twitch shooters like CSGO or are trying to reach top rank on any fast paced game. Since you are playing Anthem on a 4K tv I would suggest getting the 2080ti. You are going to need all the power you can get to push that game at 4K resolutions.
How exactly do you plan on playing without a desk. Where are you going to put your keyboard and mouse. |

What I was wondering though, is 4k gaming on a 4k TV worth it? Would I see better FPS from a lower resolution, and thus able to go for a cheaper card, in terms of Keyboard and Mouse, Primarily I will be using a controller for Anthem (no pvp and controller seems much better) however for all my other games and general usage, I already have this: [Minimum post requirement for links] |

Gaming on a 4K TV will look good but I don't think it is worth it. Like most people these days I went for the sweet spot of 1440p monitors with high refresh rate (165hz). |
