Hey, so I've been interesting in Graphic Design for a very long time, I'm wondering what software I'd need & what exactly it would be used for?

Could someone provide me with this information, it would be very much appreciated.

I use photoshop cc 2018 for general designs and c4d to make 3d text, if you're looking at expanding into logos illustrator is also a must, nothing else is needed
however you will need a lot of presets inside of photoshop and graphics packs help a lot too whether it's just for inspiration or not because there is always great things to use within them, I recommend macers pack or zerts if you're looking at making headers etc (both people can be found easily on twitter)
other than that you'll need stuff like brushes etc which can be downloaded and applied really easily. Ultimately being a good designer just requires creativity and patience as there is a lot, and I mean a lot you can do within photoshop and it's all about subtle effects to well make a greater bigger picture. There is an addon you can get called magic bullet looks which just lets you apply more dramatic filters to your work which is also really good
for example this is a header without mbl

this is the same header but with mbl

I know this is very jumbled so feel free to pm me if you have any more questions and I feel my advice can be trusted because I see myself as extremely competent with design

PSD Packs are also very useful towards a bunch of the work you'll be trying to do.
You can obtain a bunch of free packs on YouTube but I recommend purchasing a couple paid packs that aren't to expensive.

update: I've got everything that you guys suggested, now I personally don't feel that good about pre-made packs, templates etc I'm really trying to just create things myself.

although it would be great if you guys could give me somewhere to start with this? I've been watching videos & doing what I can, mostly learning the basic stuff but maybe I'm missing some things you guys would recommend?

Learn how to use stuff like the pen tool etc to make different shapes and just mess around with it and see what you can do. I learned from a mix of watching YouTube and messing with it on my own. I am still learning as there is a ton of different things you can do.

Is there any videos you'd suggest?
