Hi,

recently purchased the RTX 2070, and now have just upgraded to 16gb DDR4 ram.

HOWEVER, my FPS in battlefield 5 is absolutely awful. I cant get past 50

What processor would be needed in order to not bottleneck the rtx 2070?

currently have a i5 7600?

That CPU is fine for gaming.

What resolution and settings are you running the game at?

Are you running the game with RTX on? That is going to take a hit on your FPS regardless. If you wan't more FPS turn RTX off and run the game in DX11.

Yeah, between 30 and 60FPS in BFV with an RTX 2070 sounds like you have RTX on low settings. Turn it off and you'll be up closer to 100FPS, or maybe even above 100FPS.

If RTX is off, something else is wrong as your CPU should not be holding you back that much despite only being a quad core.

What else could be wrong?

My power supply? that's all there is really. I Upgraded my ram because of this as only had a single 8gb stick. Same issue

Only thing left is my power supply/motherboard

You haven't told us what resolution you're playing at? If it's 4k, 50ish FPS makes sense.

If it's 1080p, you should absolutely be above 60FPS. An extra 2 cores would be beneficial if you had a high refresh rate monitor as the quad core i5-7600 will hold you below 100FPS.

Keep an eye on clock speed of CPU+GPU, utilisation of CPU, GPU, and RAM too I suppose. Also keep an eye on temps.

The PSU isn't going to be the issue, a bad PSU isn't going to limit your performance. A bad PSU is just going to die usually, you're not really going to notice when a PSU is on it's way out.

Yeah I thought that.

Happened to me years ago when I got a 680 brand new psu went bust.

My monitor is 240hz however im getting locked around 35-55 fps, no vsync.

Temps are ok and speeds are normal..
