thread title says it all. I went to the dentist today for what i thought would simply be a cavity fill but ended up turning into a appt. for a root canal. after seeing the price of a root canal i decided to just have it pulled since its bottom #18 in the back of my mouth.

i guess what im asking is whats everyone experience with something like this

I've had a tooth pulled lol. All they do is numb it obviously and basically wiggle it out. You don't feel a thing but the sound is very disturbing lol

Uh I'm sure they would sort something out. Honestly it isn't bad at all, there's a little nip for literally 1 second and that's when the jags getting put in, then you feel nothing from there.

If I were you I would just bring some headphones with you and close your eyes lol. The thing I hated the most about it is when you can't talk/eat for the rest of the day lol

Tooth #30 (opposite side of mouth, close position to #18)

BEFORE THE PULLING.

Three months ago I had to have a Tooth Pulled due to a Root Canal failing (from 10 years ago).

They decided to pull because they said it would be $2,500 without a guarantee that they could save the tooth. So it cost me $750 to pull it.
It had to be pulled like a Wisdom tooth (in pieces because it was cracked right through the middle).
Let me tell you the pain (not the extraction, just the tooth pain) was the worst pain I have ever had in my entire life. Ever.

It was so bad, I had no money and insurance, I walked in to a dentist office to get it checked out. $150 just for the check-up. The pain made me spend $150, and if you know me and my family. I would never have done that if I could withstand the pain.

They had to put me to sleep and they pulled it, cracked it, whatever.

AFTER THE PULLING.

Woke up feeling a little tired of course, but the pain was gone. Seriously, the tooth pull, I didn't feel a thing.

I have problems eating occasionally on that side. No pain, just difficultly because I am missing one of my chompers (plus I eat on that side, so it is hard to switch sides).

I sometimes ball gum up in my mouth and stick it where the tooth was out of boredum. Kind of fun in my head. I don't know.

Kind of hard (not like superhard, but still want you to be aware) to eat chewing food, like meats because I chew on that side. Sometimes eating chips I have to be more careful because it might poke the skin, which hurts obviously.

IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY, SAVE THE TOOTH.
IF YOU DON'T, PULL IT. (I can't promise they'd pull it like they did mine because mine was a different situation the tooth was in half so they couldn't really save it and had to extract it differently than pulling it).

was going to pm you to say thanks but i cant. so thanks for the "review" i know thats not the right word but you get it. lol
helped me get a little bit better idea of what to expect.
I can afford the root canal and filling/capping but i dont think its worth it to have it fail in 10 years (your not the only one to tell me this. everyone i know that has had root canals say they fail at about 10 years anyways so its not worth it to me
