Hey so I'm going to build my first gaming PC, and I've got no clue how you know if all the parts are going to work together so i figured i'd just ask knowledgeable people like yourselves!

I'm just looking to know if all these parts / components will work together:

GPU - Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB
CPU - intel i7-8700
Motherboard - ASUS Prime Z370-A
RAM - HyperX Predator DDR4 RGB
HDD - Seagate BarraCuda 2TB
SSD - Samsung 860 Evo Pro 500GB
PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P2

I haven't selected a case yet either, don't know if that's a big deal or not.

Appreciate it if anyone could help, ty

Yep, all compatible so far. Obviously you'd have to choose a compatible case as well though.

While that's not a bad system, I'd probably make some changes, like look at buying a Ryzen CPU or Intel 9th gen. I also wouldn't buy the EVGA P2 PSU, it's probably over-priced, the G2 units are already stellar quality and usually much cheaper. Good to see you went for a good quality PSU though, usually see people pairing $30 PSUs with $1500 systems lmfao. Solid SSD choice, just picked up the same for myself and it's great. 500GB 860 EVO is a stupidly good value SSD right now.

What's your budget and currency?
What exactly will you use the system for?
Will you overclock?
What monitor(s) will you be using with the system?
Any preferences?

Answer these questions and we can help you with a parts list.

Ah, thank you for the reply and advice!

When looking for a case that'd be compatible is there anything I need to look out for that means i should stay away from it or would the majority of cases be fine?

I've done a little research on the CPU's and along with a few friends recommendations intel i7-8700 was the best bet. Most reviews i read about it made it sound pretty good, and my friends said they've found AMD less reliable. Plus new 9th gen probably WAY outta my price range lol!

As for the PSU. I'll definitely look into that G2 unit, thanks.

My budget is ideally maybe AU$1600-1800. I don't mind going over a tad, but i don't want to spend much more than that because I'm still yet to get monitor, mouse, keyboard etc. I'm also buying an Elgato HD60 pro too so that adds about $250AU. (Currency Aussie dollar too obv)

As for exact use, I'm sure from the Elgato I'll be buying you can tell it'll be for gaming, recording and streaming. I play games anyway so thought might as well, no harm in potentially making money off it lmao.

I doubt I'll overclock much if ever so I'm not too fussed about that.

And like I said just prior I haven't yet got a monitor in mind, I'm sure it won't be too hard but if you've got any recommendations for that and maybe a mouse too that'd be much appreciated!

Thank you so much for the help!
