Hi all, my Brother is looking at building a new PC for my Nephew as he's always wanted one and loves gaming/technology. So something powerful (as can be) would be perfect. I've provided a form below for you, thanks very much, I appreciate it!

What is your budget? 800GBP
Do you need a monitor? No
Do you need a keyboard? No
Do you need a mouse? No
Do you need an operating system? No
What will you use the PC for? Gaming and school work

Any other questions, please ask!

What monitor(s) will he be using with the system?
What kind of games will he be playing? No need to waste money on a GPU he's not going to utilise if he's only playing some non demanding games.

Also, will he overclock? If he's interested in technology, he might like to tinker with stuff, in which case a Ryzen system would be the best bet IMO, but if he has no interest whatsoever in overclocking, then a locked i5 or something is a better option.

Thanks for the reply. I believe the monitor is just a 1080p ASUS monitor. Games would be mixed, from Minecraft to GTA: V as he's a casual gamer, only plays a select bunch of games. Would be ideal to run most games very well, though. He probably won't be overclocking!

Thanks again!

You could save some money if you wanted. This is a pretty dialled system so it's nice all round but you could definitely make some sacrifices to get it closer to £600 and still be fine for 1080p gaming. If you want it under £800, you can drop to a 240GB SSD;

or drop the HDD for now, and maybe add it later- a 500GB SSD will be enough to last a while anyway.
You could keep the 500GB SSD and the HDD if you want, and just drop the aftermarket cooler to get the system right under 800 quid. The stock cooler with the i5 will be fine, just ugly and kinda loud but the cooler can be replaced any time anyway.

Again, if he's interested in tweaking or you think he might want to look in to it in the future, a Ryzen alternative system would be a good shout. Same price for an R5 1600 and B350 motherboard with faster RAM anyway.

Thank you very much. I'll go for the build you've suggested! I'll talk to him about potential overclocking or tweaking in the future to see which is best, though.
