Ok so today at 1pm I have a job interview for a phone sales company ( In the UK )

I have never had a job interview before, so I don't really know what to expect I know the basics such as dress code, formality ext. but I was wondering if anyone has any useful tips for going into the interview and also how to handle it when I go in there.

While your at it i'd also be interested to know where was your first job interview, and how did it go?

The following 1 user thanked Manny18k for this useful post:

You should take a look at Seam's Topic regarding job interviews. Has some very good info and tips.

My first interview was terrible tbh. It wasn't until I actually started working that my self confidence started to shine and I was happy enough to talk to other people. But I've also been on the other side of an interview desk since then and I can tell you that interviewers will have no worries if you are nervous.

Best of luck

Last year in college we had to go on work-placement so we had to go out looking for a job. This was my first time ever looking for a proper job at 19. I am normally a shy guy when it comes to interviews and what not and get nervous like everyone else. Over the span of 2 months I had 7 total interviews. I wore a suit to my interviews as I was going for a software engineer role and some companies were pretty big. I was literally shitting it going to my first one but once i got in there it was fine and i just try clear my mind and talk like I would to one of my friends. I got offered a job anyways so i guess I was someway good haha. Last year during summer I went to a similar job that you are going for and the interview was easy obviously it depends on what type of interviewer you get but more than likely it wont be hard so I wouldnt sweat it.

Key Tips :
Dont oversell yourself.
Wear good clothes make sure your looking sharp.
Be early.
Greet them when you meet them.
Dont turn your back to the interviewers at anytime.
Look them direct in the eye as much as you can.
Chill out.
Be prepared.

Dont sweat it, you will be fine.

Good luck bro!

Just as they said above, be early; look presentable; look them in the eye; SMILE; ASK QUESTIONS; be interested in everything they have to say. My first interview wasn't really an interview but I just got a job at Lowes and the interview went well except I froze when he asked me questions like "tell me a time when you went above and beyond for a customer"

Let us know how your interview went, I'm presuming you've already finished/are nearly finished? Considering it is nearly 2 pm now.

I had one very recently. My advice would be to ask as many questions related to the job title;

* What is it you'll be doing specifically
* How to progress further (wanting to push)
* Support from others & tell them you'll help

They want to see enthusiasm, ambition and character. Not to mention being able to work as a team. Be formal & talkative, there's nothing better than seeing someone smiling too. Try make them laugh (not force laugh, but relating to them) make sure you mention about progressing!

Edit: They also like to hear that you're available to there dispense. Weekends, shifts nobody wants. They'll love that. (I know it's shit but if they see you're capable of keeping things going you can easily replace someone)

Good luck my man, stay positive. You can only do your best:)
