Just curious what you mean by this? Dont waste your time as in he shouldn't make any merch?

Its a saturated market now. Unless he has insane illustration skills, don't waste time doing it.

I disagree while I would say be careful how much money you put into it you could be a huge success off this!

My friend made a clothing line stealing quotes off of Facebook posts and putting them on a black T-shirt with white sloppy text, no design needed and he's doing great and making enough money to live and he's only 18.

Sure some shirts will sell more than others but it's about constantly pushing out new product till you get one that blows up! Use social media to your advantage and take the chances they give to advertise and grow ur small company in time you may just realize that the money and time you put into this are worth it and like I said don't drop thousands into this if you're taking a risk it's kinda a bad market to do so in but if you have enough money to slowly fund this then I say go for 1000x over and don't listen to people who say you won't make it.
