As the title says will 3x4gb 2400 same brand/type work fine until next month when i can afford the other 4gb

Yeah, 12 will be good. 8 is usually a good start so anything above will be good.

yeah you can easily get by with 12, most games recommend 8

Reddit User wrote 8gb is enough. If I had a choice of buying $200 worth of RAM and get 16GB, or spend $100 on RAM to get 8GB but put that other $100 towards a better CPU. I would get the 8GB no doubt. The advantage of having a better CPU is way more than having 16gb of ram.

I have to agree. Most games recommended 8GB, very few actually need 16GB and having a stronger CPU for the money will help a lot more in games. So, you are more than fine staying at 12 without upgrading unless you just want to, but for games you are totally fine waiting with that amount of RAM until you decide to upgrade or whatever.
