Hi. I have a fully stock 2006 mazda that runs a 4 cylinder 2.3 L engine. Quick car except for highway pulls are complete trash haha. I found this weapon R I-Throttle kit (throttle controller) with 7 economy modes and 9 sport modes also heard good reviews on it. Its exactly for my car also but im not sure if i want to just save up for a turbo + tune, or buy the throttle controller save up to buy a cat back exhaust, and cold air intake for now. Would be a very long time till i would be able to afford the cat back due to it being $300-$500 or more... so ill list
How i would order it

List 1:
Weapon R I throttle ($167)
Cold air intake ($150-$200)
Cat back exhaust ($300-$600)

List 2:
Turbo + tune (obviously turbo suitable for my engine so it wont damage it) ($1200)
New exhaust system (may go cheap $200-300)
Sri or cai ($140-$200)

If you have any idea, please let me know because im clueless but want a faster car. My dad wont let me sell or trade it so i may as well take advantage of this car while i have it through college!

Here's the deal with a turbo, there is a huge trade off. You have to decide what you want power wise, do you want 0-60 power or 60-100 power? A bigger turbo will be a pig down low but once it spools up you'll go fast. On the other side of things a smaller turbo spools up fast therefor being better "off the line" on the lower end but it's capabilities max out fast.

Do some research on a CAI and save yourself some money. They don't give out much gains and in some cases give none or take away. They are a lot of money and essentially just for looks.

People think that modifying the engine is the only way to go fast but there's another way and it's in your axles. For example, my gear ratio is 3.73 which means for ever 1 full revolution of the ring gear, the pinion will turn 3.73 time. What does this mean? The driveshaft has to turn 3.73 times for the tires to turn once. by modifying the ratio you can get a little faster or a little slower. I'm not saying get a 1:1 gear ratio, that's dumb and you'll probably max out at 10 mph lol but it's something else to consider.

I build menu cars. Have a boosted 2008 Honda civic Si manual, honestly to turbo a car that's not your rebuilding the engine transmisSion to be able to handle more power, if you have a Mazda I would suggest selling it and looking into a 2010-2013 Mazda-Speed 3 its like a lower version of a Subaru but without the subi problems and is still front wheel drive it already comes boosted and is very very easy to mod in any way!

Personally I wouldn't bother wasting your time turboing a car, you might think your motor will handle boost, until you put a full kit and blow it lmao. Speaking from experience. If you want a turboed Mazda. Look into the Speed3, they're nasty and quick as all hell.

idk who taught you about turbos but turbos dont max out your speed, they build boost and will hold that boost, theres so many ways to have no lag and still keep a larger turbo, and smaller turbos spool up fast and will hold boost just like a big turbo but will be limited to less power.

turbos last if you doit right, dont doit janky dont get jank results.
