Was your ps3 on a CFW?

Make sure the hard drive is plugged in correctly


Also when you do the update on the USB

Make sure the folders are unzipped

And that the folders are named correctly so the update is recognized by the PS3

If you was on a CFW and tried to update to the official update then this may happen.
Put your old hard drive in the Ps3 and try the update again,

I tryed put my older hardrive in . and now whan i try to update its says No applicable update data was found . i downloaded the update 4.82 from ps3 website ...

Same as if it was CFW. You would do the same way. If the update is not spelled correctly Will not work Make sure you format the usb fat32 make sure all folders and update is spelled correctly.

Yes in my usb its PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDAT.PUP
And its formated to fat32

With my old hardrive its says install version 3.40 or later I'm so confuse right now its just don't want to update don't make sence at all
