I am talking about the people in the USA BTW. I am and American but I call soccer football because 1. It makes more sense you use your foot and you kick a ball and 2. I don't watch American football at all. Some people get mad when I call it football which I don't get. For thousands of years it was called football. Your thoughts?

I don't understand actual anger, but I can see an annoyance of something being confusing when it doesn't have to be. Like, when I say "soccer," every person knows what I am talking about. When I say "American football," everyone knows what I am talking about. If I am in America saying "football," well, it is confusing if you mean the soccer kind and not the American kind. I am going to go around saying I live in LA, because of course I mean Louisiana. It's just unneeded confusion.

In Australia we normally call Rugby = Football

Soccer = Soccer

Here in the states, football in my mind equates to [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I really don't understand why anyone would care. It means different things in different parts of the world. Soccer to an American is Football to the EU/other parts of the world. Call it what you are used to calling it and be happy about the sport that you like.

Has been a subject of flaming and trolling for a long long time on TTG.
They should have a 2 different forums, one for soccer and one for NFL
