Skull and Bones is an upcoming pirating-themed game set around 1718 during the high point of the piracy age. Developed by Ubisoft Singapore, Skull and Bones will be working off of the naval aspect of the Assassin's Creed installment Black Flag; you will play as an upstart pirate captain who has passed up the King's pardon to pursue the pirating life. With nothing to lose you will take on the world to become the most ruthless, most notorious pirate to sail the seven seas. Your struggle will take place across the Indian Ocean, an unclaimed location full of unclaimed riches ready for the taking.

I figured that I would make a topic for this game seeing as Sea of Thieves is to be released shortly. Whilst Sea of Thieves is to focus more on quests and exploration with a rather exaggerated physics engine and cartoon-ish art style, Skull and Bones is set to primarily focus on strategic naval warfare with a more realistic physics engine and the rich and intricate art style we have come to know through the Assassin's Creed game series. Having recently gone back to play, and complete Black Flag, the gameplay is still rather fresh in my mind, and whilst the naval battles were enjoyable, that part of the game became repetitive very quickly. The redeeming factor for the upcoming Skull and Bones is the multiplayer aspect, hopefully it should provide a fun alternative to plundering ships solo. I certainly want to see more of the single player content of the game before I consider buying the game.
