Overview/Synopsis:
When the democratic government of Isla Trueno is overthrown, an aggressive and hostile military command rises to power. A highly trained special ops unit is sent in to help the rebels accomplish objectives that only a sniper can handle. In addition to intense sniper missions, players will also take part in a variety of assault scenarios where their prowess with weapons will be a huge help to the undermanned rebels. Sniper: Ghost Warrior seeks to challenge players in new ways so that the game is both demanding and entertaining.
Developed by City Interactive's dedicated next-gen games studio, Sniper: Ghost Warrior delivers an impressive visual and technological gaming experience and features a realistic ballistics system that measures bullet trajectory, bullet drop and environmental effects such as wind, fog & rain. Encompassing a wide array of single and multiplayer levels, players will encounter a variety of challenging terrain. Players take on the role of a Ghost Warrior, an elite sniper in a highly trained special ops unit, whose unique skills in the art of stalking, target detection, surveillance and shooting accuracy will determine mission success. Covert missions force players to operate undetected as they attempt to eliminate hostile enemies one head shot at a time.

Gameplay/Plot:

Sniper Ghosts Warrior is a Tactical Shooter in which you take control of various people throughout the campaign, among these people is Sergeant Tyler Wells aka. Razor Six-Four, for long range missions and stealth assignments, a rebel leader called El Tejon for missions with direct firefights and lastly a Delta Force Operator Private Anderson. The plot is based around the fictional country of Isla Trueno, whose democratic government has been overthrown by rebel forces.

A large portion of the game evolves around stealth, but there are many ways you can play the game, you can be a stealthy sniper and cause as little destruction as possible while still getting the job done, but remaining un-seen. You can try to take out the enemies in such a way where they all make the ultimate sacrifice but you still remain un-seen for the most part, or you can go in all guns blazing and cause as much havoc as possible. The way I found the game most enjoyable was to do a bit of both depending on the situation at the time. Some missions you need to be stealthy and some where you need to just empty the clip. All in all makes for a very diverse single player that most people can enjoy.

The physics in the game aren't the best either, some of the weapons feel very clunky to play with, but I think this is due to the FOV of which the game pays at, but if you're looking to go stealth, this wont matter, you only notice if in fast paced missions where smoothness is key, but other then that it's fine.

The main weapons used in game are silenced pistols, throwing knives and various types on sniper rifles, in the missions that are played by the non sniper characters, the stealth aspect is dropped for a more run and gun mood. There are also missions throughout the campaign where you are the spotter for an AI controlled sniper teammate which really breaks up the monotony of doing all the work yourself, a nice touch. Most of the game's environment is a dense jungle, while the mission routes don't need to be followed directly, the level is bounded by invisible barriers to keep you on the right track.

The single player campaign is made up of four different Acts, each of which feature different conflicts, for instance one act you may be providing overwatch for a allied side then in the next act you may be the one that has overwatch from that same sniper. All in all it provides a very good gameplay experience from more than one perspective.

Graphics:

Sniper Ghost Warrior uses the Chrome Engine 4, which in turn for how old this game is, provides some very nice detail in game. Like stated in the section above, the games setting is usually in a dense jungle, this is challenging for any engine to do well, but it seems to handle it very well. The scenarios are very diverse and the lighting is good. The texture detail could be better but due to limitations in this version of the engine, it was probably restricted. But overall the engine does a good job of providing a smooth gameplay experience with good performance.

The gun models are fairly accurate, while the textures may be a bit flat the gun still looks good enough for me. Another unique feature is the bullet cam, sometimes when you take shots from long distances, the camera will follow the bullets trajectory until it reaches it's target. A nice little feature that can actually provide some good situational awareness.

Controls:

The controls are pretty standard compared to other first person shooters around, with some extra binding obviously due to some extra features over other games. Default bindings will be rarely need to be changed, but if you feel inclined to do so, there is a good amount of customization that can be done. Most of the important bindings can be changed to what ever you desire, but like I said, the default ones are pretty good with everything where it should be. The game on PC at least offers support for both keyboard and mouse as well as partial controller support which is nice for people who like a relaxed style controller game play.

System Requirements (PC):

OS: Windows XP (SP3) / Vista (SP1) / 7
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3,2 GHz, Intel Pentium D 2,66 GHz, AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Memory: 1GB for XP / 2GB for Vista and 7
Graphics: 256 MB RAM compatible with DX10.0 or DX9.0c, Shader Model 3.0

DirectX: DirectX 9.0c
Hard Drive: 6.5GB
Sound: Compatible with DirectX 9.0c

Overview:
Sniper Ghost Warrior as a game is fun to play. You can play it in any style you want. If you're looking for a game to sit back, relax and shoot some noobs from a long long way away, then this is the game for you. While the graphics and physics aren't ground-breaking, but it doesn't harness the amount of fun you can have by playing it!

Overall rating: 7/10

Accurate review. I hated the games feel, it wasn't immersive at all and multiplayer sucked.

Great review man. I've never played this game, but since it seems like a more realistic sniper it seems like a lot of fun, the simplicity of it helps as well. Good job man.
