Im currently paying for 1000 download and 60 up. I'm getting around 800 download and 8 up. I know that the download isnt always going to be at 1gb but for some reason I am getting super slow upload speeds. Is there anything I can do to up the speed?

The last option I have is to call my internet provider.

I think it'd be best to just contact your ISP anyway to get a straight answer from the source.

You think that is slow? I understand that it is not what you are paying for, but that is speed is very fast considering that I only get around 50 and that is on a good day.

Have you tried running a test at different times of day? Maybe you are just using it when everyone else. I would suggest you call your isp and see what they say.

I do not know what your setup is like. But if you are using wifi, then you will get worse speeds than if you were using Ethernet.

Your isp Charter or Comcast?

I have a local internet, it's called Mediacom. How could I tell if it's congested?

Okay I've heard of them.

Your ISP wont tell you its congested but, a way to see if its congested is to run a speedtest late night like around 12am, because thats when less people are hogging the bandwidth. ISPs share your internet with other people. For example they'll have 10Gbs of bandwidth and distribute those 10 gigs to 16 or 32 internet subscribers, sometimes more. If you get the same speeds that you've been getting then its not congested but there's something wrong, maybe a modem change will fix your issue but if it doesn't then the issue is with their network. If you get much higher speeds then it means your node is congested, but you cant do anything about that unless you somehow get Mediacom to swap you to a different node, which is difficulty to get them to do.

Also when it comes to gigabit internet you'll wont get the actual 1000Mbps it usually around 940Mbps.

Good Luck!

it depends sometimes its your isp throttling you sometimes its the router i would recommend you contact your isp to see why this is happening(sometimes they will just flat out lie to you) if they have no idea try replacing the router could fix it as to me it sounds like a router issue than a isp one

It can be caused by many reasons. I had similar issue a few weeks ago and my good friend advised me to buy [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] which has the highest possible speed and unlimited traffic. The price was good and now I finally solved my issues with slow upload speed. Hope it will be useful for you too.
