Okay, idk if I am just dumb and my pc isn't good enough but I am trying to edit using AE, but I can never play the video inside AE it is always lagging and takes forever to play so I can't even properly edit my videos. It also takes FOREVER to render like an intro!

My Laptop Specs are:
CPU - Intel Core i7 7700HQ
RAM - 16GB DDR4
GPU - GTX 1060 2GB
Storage - 1TB Seagate HDD & 250GB Kingston SSD
Motherboard - MS-16K2 (U3E1)
OS - Windows 10 Home 64-bit

I am using the MSI GS63VR 7RF Stealth Pro

Couple of tips that can help in terms of RAM Previews.

You can set the preview mode to "Half", it'll dumb down the quality when previewing however will not affect the outcome, it will still look crisp and clean. Helps when you have a long clip that's being edited.

You may also delegate a set amount of RAM that AE will use, having 16gb might not change anything but it's worth a shot;

Click on After Effects > Preferences > Memory & Multiprocessing.
Change 'RAM for Other Applications', sometimes it's default set at 2GB which is also a pain the arse.

And finally, within AE you can click the dropdown menu below the editing screen/panel and there is a "Fast Preview" box, you can click that and it'll reduce the lag a small amount.

As for final render settings, if it takes a while use the AME (Adobe Media Encoder) rather than the built in AE Renderer, chances are if you're using "Lossless" Codec you're going to have a large file which will result in a longer render.
