Overwatchs newest map was plucked right from the real world
The new deathmatch map in Overwatch is pretty much like taking a trip to France, only much cheaper.

Overwatchs newest map, Chteau Guillard, is inspired by an actual castle found in eastern France.

Chteau Guillard was recently added to Overwatchs public test region as the first map in the game to be solely built for the new Free-For-All game mode. The map plays a role in Overwatchs narrative as the childhood home of Amlie Lacroix, better known as the defense character Widowmaker.

Similar to the Payload map Dorado, the source of Chteau Guillard comes from a real location (although it would seem like the location is actually from the right country this time). Reddit user Aternel recently discovered that Chteau Guillard is designed after the Chteau de Duingt, near the French town of Annecy. The Reddit user helpfully provides images of both the game map and real world location for fans to observe the similarities for themselves.

Currently, Chteau Guillard exclusively supports Free-For-All. Team Deathmatch was also introduced to the PTR alongside Free-For-All, but the developers claimed it didnt fit the flow of the map. Deathmatch modes will remain isolated to the games Arcade environment for the time being, so if anyone wants to enjoy the new map, thats where they have to go.

There is currently no date for when the deathmatch modes and new map will launch for all players, but fans can likely expect them within the next two weeks. In the meantime, all players can enjoy Overwatchs recently launched Summer Games event.
