No SSD? That's not a good move.

No need for an X370 motheboard. A nice B350 chipset motherboard will be fine. The EVGA B3 isn't quite as good as the GS, but it's still a perfectly good, fully modular PSU and is great for this system IMO. I included an SSD, and a much better case. Though, I'd get a Phanteks Eclipse P400(S) TG instead, but Scan don't appear to have any in stock. RX 580>GTX 1060. Scan should have more of those 580's in a few days so you should be able to get one soon if you pre-order. If not, £250ish is what you should be spending on a GPU anyway, so you could maybe grab a used GTX 970 or 980. £300 is too much for a GTX 1060.

I would prefer to get him a nvdia card if possible also he wants to put the order in asap so a preorder card wouldn't be ideal

Why? There's really no reason to take the GTX 1060 over the RX 580, considering the 580 is £50 cheaper and the better card. If you order it now, it should dispatch on the 26th, so that's not really much waiting. You should have the 580 by next Friday/Saturday. Otherwise, like I said, just get a GTX 970 or 980, you should be able to get one of those for closer to £200.

The reason we can't pick pre order items is because he only has 2 days off this month which is mon-tues and we need those days to build it. also the rx580 is 4gb where the 10060 is 6.

VRAM doesn't mean the card is better, it is like comparing a 1080ti to an titan. The 580 is better in most cases for price/perf, whereas both cards have their flaws. The 580 is a better choice IMHO.

Both cards are hard to find. It isn't going to kill him too wait a bit, and you can literally install a GPU at any point. The 580 is worth it, the 1060 is just fine, but not worth the extra IMO..

Most can be found on Amazon, just for a bit more on price, GPU is a tad harder to find, scan is your best bet for that, or well Reddit on HWS, or eBay.
