Sniper Elite 4 - XboxOne

Initial release date: 14 February 2017
Developer: Rebellion Developments
Publisher: Rebellion Developments
Series: Sniper Elite
Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows
Genres: Tactical shooter, Stealth game

Synopsis

Sniper Elite 4 is a third-person tactical shooter stealth video game developed by Rebellion Developments. As the direct sequel to Sniper Elite III, the game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 14 February 2017.

Game-Play

When you first load up the campaign you will be able to customize your character, somewhat and choose what weapon you would like to use but, you will need DLC content for certain weapons, the rest you will have to progress throughout the game to unlock them. You will have three game modes, Single player, Multiplayer, and cooperative. I have not yet played multiplayer yet but when I do I will add it to this review. You also have 5 different difficulty modes, easy, normal, hard, hardcore, and custom, which was a bit different to see so that was cool, but as its a new game I will normal try it out first on normal mode. Literally 1 minute in the game you will already be getting a bit of action, and getting your first kill, as you approach the enemy it will tell you the buttons to press to help you out when you first start. As you rack up the kills you will earn XP for each kill (Infantry kill +100XP, Takedown +50XP, Ghost +10XP), you can get 460XP for a double kill. Headshot will earn you 200XP. You will also be able to pick up their weapon or ammo. Alongside your sniper rifle, you will also have a pair of binocular's (RS), so you can scan for enemies, you can tag the enemies by pressing (RT), it will show you how far away they are from you, you can also tag objects. To whip out your sniper you simply hold down (LB) which will bring up your radial menu., and you can select your weapon. Weapons include sniper rifles such as Karbiner 98K, Carcano M91/41, and handguns, like the M1911, Webley VI, etc, and DLC rifles such as the M1 Garand. There is a large variety of weapons you can unlock which I found really great.
You will have to slowly make your way throughout the map taking down enemies along the way, this will take some time as the map is massive and you can't just go in spraying shots, it's just like in real life as a sniper you have to take your time, move slowly around the enemy. Once you have killed all the enemies in the area, you can go and search the bodies for intel and weapons, ammo, etc, and you can pull up your map and choose which location you want to go an attack. When you bring up the map it will tell you the objectives you need to do, You will have primary objectives, and optional objectives like kill officers, destroy cameras, so you will always know what you're doing. While progressing throughout the map and completing your objectives you will gain XP for each one you complete, for the primary ones you can get more, (2000, XP). Once you have completed all your objectives you can then advance to the next level. Overall I thought the gameplay was absolutely fantastic 10/10 without even thinking about it.
While using your sniper you can press down (RB) to hold your breathe and take your shot when you take your shot, you will get a bad ass slow motion mini clip, and see your kill up close which I thought was brilliant. You bring up your map by press select and see where you are and where you need to go. While you're getting some insane kills, you have to also be careful as you can blow your cover, it will tell you this and your radar in the bottom left will go red, and you will have to leave the area until it goes yellow. That gives you the all clear and you can continue where you left off. While using your binoculars for scanning for enemies its a smart thing to look for things such as explosives, or vehicles, as you can shoot the fuel tanks and they will explode, this is really helpful when there are multiple enemies nearby.

Plot

When you first start the campaign there will be a short video basically telling you the plot but in my own words this it in a nutshell: "(The Nazis have a new weapon, and you need to find out what the germans are up to, and find out about their new secret weapon. General Tobias Schmidt is carrying some information we can use, your mission is to kill General Tobias Schmidt, and kill all high ranking officers.)"

Graphics

The graphics are insane for this game, my personal favorite is the amount of detail when you kill an enemy, as when you melee them, you can literally see there inside, like stabbing their hurt, and it's a bloody mess, also I loved the slow motion sniper kills and seeing the bullet as it travels and penetrate the enemy, and see the bullet go right through their skull, and see all the skull fragments fly away from the skull which just looks insane. When you take your shot you can literally see all the insides of the enemy's bodies, looks very detailed and gory. The Maps are beautiful with stunning looking beaches, tree and the whole overall environment is enjoyable to play.

Controls

The controls are smooth as hell can't fault it at all, to climb ladder etc, just simply walk up to it. You can pick up bodies and drop them by pressing (Y) empty lung (RB), holding down (X) to search the body for intel, or weapons, ammo, Select, Map/game objectives, menu to bring up the game menu.

System Requirments (PC)

OS: 64-bit Windows 7, 64-bit Windows 8.1 or 64-bit Windows 10.
Processor: Intel CPU Core i3-2100 or AMD equivalent.
Memory: 4 GB RAM.
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2GB) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (2GB)

Overall:

Game-play: 10/10
Plot: 10/10
Graphics: 10/10
Controls: 9/10
Overall: 10/10

Sniper Elite 4 looks like it's a really fun game. I love how detailed you were explaining the gameplay. The graphics looks really good, and pretty realist. I've never checked this series out before, but this is a great review!
