Synopsis

Trials is a platform racing video game series developed by RedLynx, loosely based on the real-life sport of motorcycle trials. It involves a motorcycle rider in a 2.5D world, traversing obstacles whilst heavily influenced by physics. It was published by Ubisoft.

Gameplay

Pretty much the exact same as the other trails games we know of, Trails of the Blood Dragon is a spin off to Far Cry: Blood Dragon. Throughout the whole game you will be put at a side view as a dirt bike driver racing to the finish line. Each stage you go through will become more difficult and frustrating. After completing multiple stages you will be introduced to new bikes that become faster and more durable. You will also get the chance to customize your character by completely specific challenges or just unlocking them at moments you won't even know. The only problem with this game is how incredible short it is, you can probably complete this game in around 3 hours by just playing each stage straight. But it still doesn't stop you from looking at the gorgeous graphics they did to the game. You will also play many mini games where you are not actually on your bike, some may be you walking around with your character or driving a little RC car competing against a time limit. Throughout the game you will wonder onto some cutscenes that look like comics. These cutscenes are little clips of the background setting of the game and sometimes just a little funny clip. In this trails you will also have the feature to Bailout of your bike allowing you to let go of your handles and just go flying through the air.

Graphics

I personally believe this is the better trials for graphics wise out of the whole series. Although this game is one of the shorter ones, you can still take the time to just stop your bike and look at all the work they did with this game. In the foreground of the game you will drive over certain points where something happens such as a tree falls down onto the track or a huge explosion happens on screen really making you appreciate the game more. But the graphics aren't just in the front of the screen, throughout stages you will get to see incredible backgrounds that aren't exactly intractable but feel like it. Each stage has an incredible setting to with all different weather effects and textures that really bring the game to life. Everything in this game is 3D and not just a picture in the background that follows your character making it look 3D. And of course the customization in your characters to the look of your bike is great. There is not that big of a selection of gear you can select in this game but each piece has a great touch to them with vibrant colors. The bikes are pretty similar to the older trials with the same sounds and textures as we know of. This trails also runs incredible smooth on the engine it uses without any frame or texture drops.

Controls

Exactly like the other trails, you will be using the triggers as go and stop and then the analog sticks to balance you. You may also use A for Gas or X for Brake if you feel like just using the buttons instead of the triggers on consoles. For computer players all you need to do is press the arrow keys or A, S, D, and W to move side to side and go. The only thing tricky about the controls of this game is you'll be needing to use the analog sticks or keys steady and I mean A LOT. In this game you will need to balance your character out and hit the right angle on a lot cliffs and ramps especially on the harder difficultly stages.
