Steep

Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Genre: Extreme sports
Release Date: December 2nd, 2016
Developer: Ubisoft Annecy
Publisher: Ubisoft

Synopsis

Steep is an online open world extreme sports video game developed by Ubisoft Annecy and published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game places a great emphasis on online multiplayer, focusing on competing in various winter sporting challenges with other players online.

Gameplay

From enjoying a nice ski hill to flying down a mountain on a snowboard, Steep is an open world game thats yours to explore. Within the world of Steep, you are allowed to play in 4 different activities. Snowboard, wingsuit flying, snowboarding, and paragliding, all 4 with different events scattered across the map. Throughout the mountains of steep, you will come across many secret areas and races that you can enjoy with friends or compete with others on the leaderboards. Each race you'll have to try your best competing against a time limited rewarding you with an award at the end. Similar to other sports games, when hitting a huge jump on a snowboard or any activity you're doing, you're allowed to do 360s or backflips allowing you to score big and hit those big numbers. Steep is main for its online feature allowing you to meet with new players and enjoy a mountain rush with others, but beware you can also collide with other players and the environment losing your momentum. There are no animals in this game that you can collide with but there are weather effects making the game better but harder at the same time. Ubisoft has made the game a lot easier with adding in the feature fast travelling allowing to fast travel to tips of mountains or lookouts just for the view. But you always dont need to do so if you just want to enjoy the game by going your own way. You're also able to custom your character making yourself a lit more fashionable when flying down mountains. You ear clothing by how good you do in events to just playing the game for fun.

Graphics

Steep is one of the greatest games to just sit back and crack open a beer and watch the sunrise go down. Steep is set in the snowy mountains meaning you'll be seeing a lot of snow, each snowflake that falls from the sky to the snow on the ground has the greatest detail. With the snow on the ground you'll be seeing a lot of trails from you and other players on Steep showing a player as gone that way and making the game see realistic. You will also sometimes come across yourself riding through trees with the branches flying off and leaves falling to the ground. With the feature of weather dynamics, you'll be able to see the sun shine off the snow and clouds or you'll see some blizzards here and now effecting your vision in your races. When hitting another player or slicing a tree in your wing suit, your body goes flying like a rage doll leaving imprints in the snow and brushing snow off the trees. With the ability to see yourself in third person and other players, the customization in this game is outstanding. Ubisoft put the greatest detail into each outfit wearable being able to see snow fly into your face to air flying through your jacket.

Controls

Steeps controls are pretty simple to get to use to. All 4 activities you play as are all similar controls making it so you dont have to remember different combos or buttons to press. Moving down a hill is all simple besides doing tricks while in mid air. It can get difficult to getting use to all the combos but after playing for a bit you may find yourself getting use to the controls. As every other game there is a setting to change anything you find weird and cant get use to.

Steep looks like a great snowboarding game and love the fact you can parachute down the mountain which I haven't really seen before in these type of games.

Steep was a game I was extremely excited for when I first saw it. I thought it was gonna be a great snowboarding game. I wasn't the biggest fan when I finally got to play it though.
Even though I don't agree with your rating it was a great review
